Mountain Biking
MOUNTAIN BIKING is one of the fastest growing sports and is a great family outing. Firstly you will need a bike and those with front shock absorbers make the ride smoother and allow you to ride difficult and rocky terrain easier. A helmet is a must as this important piece of equipment not only protects you if you fall but also from low overhanging branches etc. Even if you are not fit but can ride a bicycle, you will soon become fit in one of the nicest and easiest of ways, the bonus being that you will be out in the fresh mountain air.
Just Bee Retreat offers the whole family a chance to get out there and experience nature at its best. Riding conditions vary enough to suit all levels of rider skills, with farm roads for the not so experienced to mountain trails for the more proficient. The main through road along the valley is very picturesque. It is rocky in places but generally is quite easy to ride. To the south it is wild and unspoilt, worth the ride for the scenery and tranquillity. The hiking trails at Just Bee Retreat are well enough maintained for mountain bikers depending on your levels of experience and fitness. The easiest are the BLUE and the ORANGE trails because they are both along the contours of the valley and are fairly rock free. The GREEN trail presents a challenge as there are steep up and down hills where the bikes may have to be carried and the 4x4 mountain trail is the toughest as it is rocky most of the way. Remember to bring your own bikes and protective gear with you. |
